this is Olivia and her mom |
I hope we still remember Olivia the young lady who had her first baby and got paralyzed after the C- Section.
For those of us who do not know Olivia this is her story:
She is 20 years old and was in high school when she got pregnant. After 9 months of carrying her baby in the womb she was ready to go and have her baby and she failed to have the baby normally because she had gone into prolonged labor and she was tired, her baby was almost dying. The doctor recommended C- Section for her to try and save them and after the operation, the mother and the baby both made it.Olivia did not recover her walking, she became paralyzed. None of us knows exactly what happened during the Cesarean birth that caused her to become paralyzed. One of our Friend a doctor tried to help Olivia while he was here in Uganda for his short time mission trip and he tried to clarify the cause of what might have caused this and he assumed that they might have injected her directly on the spinal cord with the anesthesia which may mean that her chances of walking again are very very very little. she may remain paralyzed for the rest of her life. This is so sad as a first time mother and a young woman, she wants to take care of her baby and go back to school, she still has her dreams fresh and clear. But, the fact that Olivia is paralyzed and from a very poor family makes it really hard for her to take care of her baby; she has to be carried by her mother or husband, she can not go anywhere around the house without someone to carry her around.and right now she has developed wounds on her butts and they are growing faster because she sits on really hard surfaces and sits long on the floor where she uses the wall to support her back.
This is how Olivia sits through the day. |
At this point: Olivia needs more medical care to assure that those wounds are not infected; and also get her a wheelchair to help her move around the house and take care of her baby and herself, also to try and avoid any farther wounds. So if you would like to help us get a wheelchair for Olivia and get her treatment please send your donations to us through Next Generation Ministries International and mention that its towards Olivia's wheelchair.
You can become our partner and donate through one time donation ,or monthly donation to help as many women as we can . you can use our Paypal address on this blog.Your donations help Woman in Crisis reach to the most needy mothers and their babies, get them medication,clothes,blankets,sheets,food,transport,follow-up,clean drinking water, and above all the love of Christ. It also helps us conduct short time mission trips to the far east of Uganda to help the young teenage mothers and get them mama kits so they can go and have their babies with at least what is basic for any new mother.
