It has been more than 6 months since I met Olivia and baby Edward.I never knew how far and how long I will keep around them or with them,I am thankful to God for this long and He is faithful in this journey.
Olivia's life was changed drastically without any warning.I know this is a crisis that no woman would ask for,it is one of the few stories that I write while fighting tears from dropping on my big cheeks .Fact is her life will never be the same again.Yes,many times when things happen different from our way,as human being,we tend to blame God or ourselves;Olivia has been the strongest girl I have ever met.She affords a smile even when she knows that she is just about to loose half her foot, she looks in my eyes and sees tears and she tells me ,"Mommy ,I will be fine." Oh my God,I ask her the question that had been running in my mind from the day I learnt she might never walk again, and I have been asking Jesus this question ever since. The question of destiny." Olivia, what do you want and love to do in your life?" she looked at me and said" If I were walking, I would.." I immediately stopped her and said,Olivia, you are alive and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you." When I said that, she looked down and tears were falling ,I fought my tears so I could hold her .THIS WAS MY CONVERSATION WITH OLIVIA WEEKS AGO,A FEW HOURS BEFORE SHE WAS TAKEN IN TO AMPUTATE HALF HER FOOT .
Our destiny is not determined by our circumstances.Jesus Christ is the owner and giver of destiny,if you have Him,He will make sure you reach your destiny. This question of destiny is to all and for all of us.Giving up is the enemy of destiny, keeping on is the secret to reaching your destiny. This is what I wanted Olivia to get and to start changing her statement from "IF I WERE WALKING" to " I WANT TO AND LOVE TO DO THIS..." With or without her legs,Olivia has a life and a future .I believe this is what Jesus wants her to know and to believe."SHE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS HER.
After so many weeks of recovery at papa Paul and mama Pamela's home,Olivia and her mom were finally going home to celebrate Christmas with their family.East or West, home is the best.they were both full of smiles and anxious to go back home,Olivia had shoes on her feet after a long time of not wearing any shoes. We set off to collect Olivia's Christmas gift from WIC.and we set off for home.
Olivia has been sleeping down on the ground even in her pain, but not any more.
Thanks to all those that gave towards Christmas mission ministry ,Olivia got a new bed,new mattress, new blanket, new pillow. You should see the joy on their faces.Yes her life will never be the same again in so many ways: She will never get half her foot back,She may never walk again, but, she has a bigger family, she will not sleep on the floor anymore, and so many other good things that God has in store for her and her baby Edward.I must admit I love her in a special way deep inside my heart.
When we were done putting the bed and everything in her room,Olivia's younger sister came to me and gave me her hand ,in a very soft voice she said"Thank you mum for loving my sister and for making her happy" well I couldn't hold it back. This little girl is about 14 years.
Yesterday I received a message from Olivia"Thank you mum for making my bedroom smart, dressing my baby and all the good things you've done for me since God sent you to me.God bless you.* Olivia.
wow, she may not know this, but many times when I am going through discouragement in ministry,God has used Olivia to encourage me.yes she challenges me how she handles her life and how strong she is in her tiny body.
Thank you Next Generation Ministry for helping Olivia get her surgery and all the medical expenses ,it cost a lot but thank you for giving. Thank you Papa Paul and mama Pamela Hunter for opening your hearts and doors for this beautiful girl.Thank you for looking after her for all this time at your home.I am strong but not that strong to watch people go through pain,I needed someone else to have my back.Thank you all who donated fast when I mentioned about the Christmas love mission,Olivia is one of the people who have benefited. Let us do this together.
I love the way God is using WIC. Plan to come and minister with WIC ,there is plenty room and plenty people to serve and love them the Jesus' way.
AND OUR CHRISTMAS LOVE MISSION IS STILL GOING ON. KEEP CHECKING ON THIS PAGE MORE POSTS TO COME.<3 TO YOU ALL WHO ARE STANDING WITH JESUS AND LOVING THE WORLD WITH HIM.
